Since 1994, SCIELAB has been providing independent Consulting and Laboratory Services in the field of Industrial Microbiology.
Our professional clients are:

- Food contact materials manufacturers
- Businesses in the primary sector, mainly livestock and poultry farms.
SCIELAB employs highly skilled and experienced professional staff in order to help businesses investigate and address quality issues relating to their products and operating conditions, in a systematic, rational and documented way.

The Quality System applied by the Microbiology Laboratory of SCIELAB is based on many years of expert professional experience.
This long-standing experience and the in-depth knowledge of Microbiology safeguards that the design of our tests and services are optimally designed to provide our customers with credible, reliable and the most meaningful results.
Human resources
SCIELAB’s multidisciplinary team of scientists includes an expert Veterinarian – Microbiologist, a Biologist and a Chemical Engineer specialised in Biotechnology.
The company implements an outstanding internal continuous training programme which enables our professional staff to:
- Be constantly informed of the scientific, legislative and / or commercial developments in their field of duties.
- Be able to work methodically and effectively, maintaining and further developing analytical skills and critical thinking.
The laboratory has appropriate data handling and protection measures set in place, which guarantee that all work undertaken is treated with impartiality, confidentiality and work ethics.
Dr. Athina Chatzopoulou, CEO at SCIELAB, is a veterinarian – Microbiologist.
Athina Chatzopoulou, BVM (AUTH) holds a Master’s degree (MSc in Food Technology) and a PhD in Microbiology from King’s College, University of London. She acquired wide professional experience by working for public bodies with scientific, regulatory and official control roles (Public Health Lab Exeter, Department of Health London, and Hellenic Milk Organisation (ElOG /ELOGAK), Athens) in established positions. She’s first author in a WO patent.
